Groyne 42 is situated at Harboøre Tongue facing the North Sea

Cheminova was given permission to deposit toxic waste at Groyne 42 in the years 1957 to 1962. The waste originated from their production of pesticides. In addition the Ministry of Agriculture deposited around 40 tons of toxic waste at Groyne 42 in 1961.

Multiple clean-ups of the site at Groyne 42 have been carried out on site. Today, the remaining toxic waste is encapsulated. The project “NorthPestClean” is testing a method for degrading and removing the remaining toxic waste.
